An electrician behind bars after he attempted to rape a client Wednesday afternoon in Riverview.
Hillsborough County deputies say Adam Millan showed up at the woman’s home for a job and that’s when he held her down at knifepoint. Thankfully, her screams were heard by neighbors who came to her rescue.
“When he has work he needs a hand with he will hire people,” says Dan Allen, the bookkeeper with Big Daddy Electric in Land O’ Lakes. His son owns the business.
He says he was shocked to learn that a man his son hired for help attempted to rape a client.
“It’s not any way he operates,” says Allen.
The suspect Adam Millan was no stranger to law enforcement. He has a lengthy criminal history from forgery, lying on an application, to a manslaughter charge in New York.
Allen says he is not sure if his son did a background check on Millan.
“It’s up to the consumer to protect themselves. Do a background check on our website. We’re always here for assistance if you need that,” says Crystal Nunez with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
“It can be uncomfortable questions to ask. Ask for his ID. You don’t want company info, you want his info,” says Nunez.
You can also ask the company for the person’s name — who they are sending.
“If there is nothing to be concerned about, they should be giving you info outright,” says Nunez.
And try to make sure you’re not alone.
For now, Millan can add more charges to his rap sheet that include aggravated battery and attempted sexual battery.
